October on the Camino del Norte

I have walked on the Camino Frances in October and loved it. I am a little concerned that Refugios/Albergues may be closed on this route in October.
Any advice?
Also wonder about footwear..I found walking in good trail shoes perfect on CF do I need boots for the C del Norte?

Hola

There are fewer albergues on Norte so you should be prepared for some longer walks some days.
Especially the first week can be a challenge.
Overall, I wouldn't be much concerned, especially as you have walked Frances and have experience.
The Norte is overall much like Frances, so what worked on Frances will work on Norte.
As I am sure you have read, do expect more asphalt road walking, but expect equally some stunning ocean walks and beach towns.
I would also read up on Primitivo so you know which way to take once you get to the fork.

On the Camino Frances, PRIVATE albergues start closing at the end of September in St Jean and progressively close at the rate of a pilgrim's 'walking so that many are closed by the start of November in Santiago. As a general principal, PUBLIC albergues are open all year. The albergue you stay at each night will know which are open ahead of you for the next night or two.
