We are planning on walking the San Salvador starting approximately October 6th. We have a plan to stay overnight in Cabanillas, Buiza, Pajares, Benduenos, Mieres and then Oviedo. If we need to shorten days etc. for weather or other reasons, we are concerned we won't find beds. I see that the albergue in La Robla is closed indefinitely, which has us a little concerned about lodging on this camino in general. Has anyone out there walked this route in the last month or so who can tell us what albergues were closed and/or which towns were hard to find beds in?
Any information would be most appreciated!

Hi. I walked late August and only issue was La Robla but did get a private room for 20 euros. All other Albergues were open and very few pilgrims. I understand your concern but the way always provides. We will walk the Portuguese interior Camino from Viseu in October and will just wing it as there doesn't appear to be any specific app so try not let anything prevent you walking the gorgeous San Salvador. Buen Camino

Except for Sandra’s place in Bendueños (which is open again) all the others are municipal Albergues. So you should be fine. There are no other places to stay except for the Albergues in Cabanillas and Buiza. Pajares also has a bar with rooms as well as a Casa rural. In Mieres, the university is offering dorm rooms to pilgrims until the new albergue is ready. There are plenty of different places to stay in Mieres also.

Make sure to call ahead in Cabanillas. Buen camino.

Hi Barbara, if all goes well, I will be a day or two ahead of you on the Camino Salvador. Yes Cabanillas only reserves one day in advance but asks to be contacted before arriving. I did reach out to reserve beds the rest of the way, and except for the albergue in Poladura, was able to do so. Buen camino!
