After walking the CF twice in 2014 and 2017 I wanted to do something a bit less discovered and more solitary.
Boy did we get that.

If anyone is interested in the VF we kept a Vlog of our journey including lodging and other bits of history. It can be found at:

Great to have all that Mark. I was thinking about you both only today!
Did you know that the P&O are once again (since October) taking foot passengers from Dover to Calais? It wouldn't have been so exciting would it? ;)
So glad it worked out - you put a monumental amount of work into it in a very difficult year.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

€149,-

Thank you Tim - All that work - but it was so worth it.

I'm glad they are taking Foot Traffic, that was so crazy. It does make for a cool story though.
When we tried to board the ferry we had a hiccup. Online you could book more than one passenger and could check "by bike". So I booked for two people. Apparently booking for two and clicking "by bike" is intended for two people using one bike (tandem I suppose). The correct thing was to book two separate singles, each with a bike. Who knew? So I had to buy another single ticket at the non-advanced purchase price. Bummer.

When we disembarked it was kind of interesting as well. All the car traffic was held back so we could exit first. We were then stopped and had to wait on an escort car. I bet all the car traffic was getting impatient.
We were instructed to follow the escort car which took us on a circuitous route around the port area quite a way. Unfortunately, my wife couldn't get her bike out of a low gear and she had trouble keeping up.
All of this in a mild misty rain - with backpacks on.
Like I said...a fun story.

A lovely 'complication' to look back on Mark! Maybe the Tour de France next year??

Are you anticipating posting the entire journey?
Bob, we have posted the entire journey at TogetherOnFoot.com Go to the Via Francigena Page.
We are continuing to edit the posts to improve the video and commentary. We'd produced it real time and were often writing while either walking or after having a glass of wine (or two). So there are a few typos!

I was very limited "on the road" about what kind of video editing I could (or was willing) to do. Hopefully it will continue to get better as we edit it. Perhaps you and others won't notice the difference, but I will. :)

Is there something you'd like to see? We have a lot of material that we didn't publish yet of course. There's a limit to what folks are willing to view!
