Would anyone recommend the best way to get to SJP from Paris? Train to Bayonne? Flying in from Chicago on October 23. Possible to get to SJP on same day? Thanks for advice.
Due to your advice on getting reasonable air fair, I used the “multi city “ option a couple of you recommended and got a fund trip for $1,200. A great deal. And direct flight from Chicago!

Frank John, we are flying into Paris early Oct and have a direct flight Air France to Biarritz (BIQ). I found that the cheapest and quickest option. Flying out about 5 hours after landing in Paris - didn't know how long customs would take. Minus fees flight was around 70 euro. Good luck and Buen Camino.

As @goldie from aus said, flying to Biarritz is easiest. Give yourself 2 hours to clear customs, collect luggage and check into the flight to Biarritz minium. Be prepared for your flight gate to change at CDG without warning, The macarons and croissants at the airport are delicious :D Buen Camino!

I too have previously taken the flight option as the easiest but this year we are choosing to stay overnight in Paris and train to Bayonne and SJPdP as the significantly lower carbon emissions were a consideration.

From Paris Montparnasse, you can easily reach Bayonne by train (typically a TGV), and from Bayonne, SJPP by train as well (namely a TER, local train). It takes between 6 or 7 hours:
Form to find a train in France
(regarding October 2023 it is a bit early to book a seat, you have to try around beginning of August)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
