Pilgrim Office in St Jean - Does it close on Public Holidays

Time of past OR future Camino
cycled from Pamplona Sep 2015;Frances, walked from St Jean May/June 2017. Plans to walk Porto 2020
OK - I am prepared to cop the flack but I did search for an answer to this question. The results went back to 2011 and what came up was that its "open all year round". But there was not information about it being closed on French National Public Holidays. I even tried their own web site - (in English) and still could not get a positive answer.
SO - is the office in St Jean likely to be closed on Monday May 1st, 2017, given that May Day (May 1st) is a public holiday in both France and Spain. The reason I need to know is if it is closed on this day I will aim to arrive in St Jean on the Saturday (April 29th) rather than Sunday (April 30th). Yes I know its 5 months away but I am trying to tie up some other lose ends in northern France.
First definitive answer gets a bottle of vino tinto in either Pamplona or Santiago - (around May 5 in Pamplona, end of May - early June in Santiago). Cheers

The office in SJPdP has always been open every day of the year!!

By the way how north will you be in France? Come by our farm on the Marne and I'll happily open a bottle of very local champagne to share with you!

It is open. In 2013 I arrived in SJPP on May 1st and picked up my passport at the pilgrim office. In 2017 I will be arriving in SJPP on May 2nd. and will start walking on May 3rd. Maybe we will meet somewhere on the trail. Bueno Camino.

Ideal pocket guides for during & after your Camino. Each weighs only 1.4 oz (40g)!
1st May as a holyday for workers is very respected in France, but the bureau is managed by "bénévoles" (volunteers).

I am coming down from Paris and your news and kind offer is (like the Akerreta Hotel) very hard to resist. Will be in touch!!

Follow-up have now checked the map of France and see that Marne is "up north"- near Reims ? . I will be in Amien 23-26 April (will have a rental car) so the offer is even more tempting. Cheers

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

I'd say its almost a certainty that our paths will cross. My current plan is to start from St Jean on either the 1st or 2nd May - overnight at Orrison and maybe plan a rest day/half day in Pamplona to sort out my "extra bag" that will be going to Ivar.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
