You don't need to "register" anywhere. You simply get the first stamp in your credential in the town where you start. It can be at your accommodation, a church, a tourist office, or even a bar!

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I bought some gloves there a long time ago.
On one November Frances a few years ago the weather really turned and went from sunny and beautiful to snow and cold rain once I got into Galicia. I had a poncho and it served it's purpose well for a couple of warm light rainy days prior, but didn't cut it for the snow and cold rain of Galicia. I went into that shoppe in Sarria and he had a nice selection of packable rain jackets/parkas on the clearance rack, I found one that fit and even he gave me a pilgrim's discount when I went to pay and stamped my credential.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Where can I pick up the Pilgrim's Passport? In Sarria you can easily pick up the Pilgrim's Passport from the Pilgrim's Office which is located in the Iglesia de Santa Mariña, right on the route on Rua Maior. Just turn up and it will cost you €1-2 and they will give you your first stamp.O

Natale: Thank you so much. You are the only one to answer my question. We all have our passports, but my wife is linking up with us in Sarria as we walk into town from Triacastela. She's on the morning bus from SdC and the Iglesia de Santa Marina is a stone's throw from the meet up albergue. The Church is a perfect place to get her starting stamp in her passport. Thank you again!

Do check their hours? They may be different by season but in my experience they were not open all day.

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Susan, yes. She arrives Sarria about 1300h and should reach the Santa Maria by 1330h. I haven't been able to found any posted information yet on church office. If you have more info, that would be appreciated. If they are closed, we'll get a stamp up the street on the Rua Maior and continue on with our trek. Thanks

Hello to all,

My husband and I will begin our Walk from Sarria on the 15th of May. When we checked the weather it stated there will be rain.

Can anyone tell me if we should prepare for a downpour and if rain gear over our hiking jackets and paint necessary to purchase?

Thank you!

@LDennis We do always carry a rain poncho at a minimum in the summer and rain pants added for winter months. Think about something to keep your things dry inside your pack if you are using a rain jacket. A pack cover may or may not be enough. You may want to have things inside your pack in waterproof bags.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

There's a saying in the movies that "The rain in Spain falls mainly in the plains." But that's fiction. Those who have walked Caminos know that the rain in Spain falls mainly in Galicia.
