Was that it then!?!?!? The notoriously steep hill out of Pontedueme. For the last 18 months of training I have been dreading the thought of having to face rhe notorious Hill. It is steep I agree but not too bad. It took 15 minutes out of my life to get up. I thought the 2nd hill over the motorway was equally as steep. I would recommend clearing both of the hills before lunch. One of the ladies in the supermarket speaks a bit of English and it's well stocked. You CAN get your passport stamped in there. She says she does more Sellos than the church which is rarely open. Going for a swim now in Mino. Buen Camino. Bruce and Margaret

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

I even forget the second hill! The hill that sticks in my mind, on Cf, Just after Castrojeriz, took me 17 minutes, but at least it was a path, not a road up out of the town! Glad to hear from you, bright and breezy...

Well aren't you the lucky ones - damn near finished me off. If it wasn't for the thought of the MesĂłn Paz just up ahead I'd still be sitting on those benches today (I was there May '18),

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

"Back in the day" (2001) the climb out of Castrojeriz was a steep, twisting goat track up and a rubble strewn path down but worth it for the double sun rise. Now it's a wide, graded gravel path, almost a road, going up and an even wider concrete road coming down. I can see why some say the CF is losing its attractions!

Hi Bruce and Margaret,
How lucky you ended up at the beach in Miño on the hottest day so far this summer. Enjoy the sun and sand!!
Oh, I agree about the hill out of Pontedeume, just one of many you get to climb on the Inglés.
Buen Camino

Fortunately I survived them all. Up and out of Castojeriz in 2017 and the climbs on the CI, especially those out of Pontedeume, I had the added joy of doing it in fog and rain in early June of this year. I don’t know how long it took but it seemed like forever. Yet, here I am smiling about it as I write this. An odd form of masochism I guess because I’d do it all again.

Prepare for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island, Oct 27 to Nov 2
The beauty of walking the Ingles in May '19 was it was blissfully cool while climbing those hills in the morning!
The downside was it was too cold to go swimming in Mino and rained much of the time I was in Pontedueme.

Buen Camino!

Not nearly as bad as the one to Bruma.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
