Hi Everyone,

I was just wondering, does anyone know the hours of operation for Spanish Post Offices?

Thanks in advance.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Hi, crad80

I'm pretty sure that post offices in Spain open at 8:30 and close at 2:00. In bigger towns they reopen in the afternoon, but not in the smaller places. I know that's not very specific, sorry. Buen camino, Laurie

The Correos website is at: http://www.correos.es. Click on the Welcome work in your language of choice on the top of the page and then find the 'Post Offices' link just below that. This will open up a locator.

The locator works well enough, but does seem to have some issues. I couldn't find a post office in los Arcos, Navarre using the locator, but it was where I posted some stuff to the UK last year. Remember when reading results that the distances will conform to the European practice of using a comma to separate the whole and decimal parts, not the period.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
A minor detail which took me about half a Camino to learn is that postage stamps are easily found at tabacconists (look for the nicotine-yellow T on brown sign) and not at post offices, which are more for mailing parcels and arranging payments of bills and money transfers of all sorts.

peregrina2000 is correct. Some of the larger ones re-open at 16.00 and close at 20.00, but check website.

Don't forget that you can forward a parcel to yourself at the larger offices.

I sent one from Portomarin to Santiago on the 9th December and had until the 25th to pick it up by.

Do check the pickup date so you do not find its been disposed of. If your Spanish is not too good the date is printed on a label that they stick to the parcel.
