Praying the Camino

Time of past OR future Camino
2022
After walking a dozen Camino's both alone and with friends, I'm looking to walk the Camino with others who are interested in a spiritual pilgrimage. To walk with a group who pray together and stay together and support each other throughout the walk. This will be a new experience for me and one I most welcome. I'm 67 and and have walked with people of all ages but never in a committed group. I'm happy to walk any Camino as I've walked most if them before. Looking forward to hearing from those who are interested in such a faith journey.

I walked a couple of days with a Spanish/American priest. He stopped drinking 30 minutes before mass, and said mass at every stop. We then gathered after mass for a Spanish brandy. He was among the most memorable pilgrims I have met. Seriously religious and seriously social.

You can create it. Camino number two, 2002, I walked a few days with newly met priests starting each day with prayer: Nice. Also, met a woman who prayed all day for one person.
Pray you find what you wish.
Thank you for your prayers. It would be wonderful to walk with prayerful people. X

Prepare for your next Camino on California's Santa Catalina Island, Oct 27 to Nov 2
Hola Angelafinnegan - welcome to the forum. There are many groups who walk the Camino in the form of a spiritual retreat. Some not religious but who practice daily meditation, yoga etc. Others are more focused on prayer and worship. Some are parish groups led by their own minister or priest. Others are organised by more specialised tour companies.
You can easily get more information on all of this and I'm sure other members will contribute.
If you are going to form your own group there is a wealth of resources available - daily readings and prayers etc all focused on the Camino experience.
If you need more information or help just ask.

Regards

John

Thank you, it would be good to know what structures are already in place. I'd appreciate any further information but a bit wary as each time I reply to a message I get a caution from Grayland. I'm confused and feel restricted. Can you private message me the information? Really appreciate your response.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
A very good booklet of Bible passages for meditation, called 'Forty Days', is available for free download as a pdf file. We found it very helpful as we walked each year. Printed out is takes a number of pages but will go on a phone etc to save weight. We managed to also print a carrying copy without the photos, leaving the full version at home.
If you meet up with like minded folk as you walk they too could download it if you have the link address with you

Hola Angelafinnegan - don't worry that Grayland's warnings were directed at you - they were directed at everyone. Discussions which stray into religious beliefs, dogma or practice have tended to cause controversy and aren't allowed on this Forum.

Tia Valeria has given good advice and an example of the excellent resources there are available. Sybille has told you about the Camino Chaplaincy which starts running walking retreats this year. As I've mentioned there are a number of tour companies who organise groups led by a priest or minister.
If you want more specific information about what's going on where you are then contact the Pilgrim Association there.

Buen Camino

@JohnnieWalker :- Can you put up the link to the reflections that you provided/updated a year or two ago please? We found it good, and helpful for reflection pre-Camino.

Thanks John.

Thanks Tim,

I have done that before with personal documents but I just don't feel good about doing that with copyrighted material.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
