Primitivo with bike

Hello to everyone.
My and my wife thinking of following Primitivo but using bikes.
I would like to know how difficult is the route.
Is it ok for bikes, or the route has too many uphills, or narrow passages in mountain etc?

is it better to choose another route? (e.g. a part of camino portugues)

we have just 12-15 days...so big routes are not an option

Hi and welcome!
I see that no-one has answered you so far - I would have thought that someone here would have done the Primitivo by bike :?:
However, you will need to be good at hills to try it! On my walk in 2009 I remember thinking "only 5 kilometers to Grandas de Salime" as I came over the dam at Presa de Embalse. What I didn't reckon on was that it is a climb of 500 metres in 5 kilometres! Average of 1 in 10 and S bends all the way.
Even harder will be the pull up to Puerto del Palo (1,140 mts) from Pola de Allande, I make it a rise of 620 metres in about 3 kilometres! An average of 1 in 5 or so
If you get hold of the guide from the Confraternity of Saint James it will give you some idea. I see that from Borres to Pola de Allande on the Cyclists' Route, it has "good brakes needed" in brackets.
I would not want to try - but then I am not a cyclist these days!!

Blessings on your planning
Tio Tel

P.S. We have just returned from the Camino Ingles. There are some steepish hills on that one too!!

I saw cyclists this year, three of them. They were Spanish and rode the whole way along the track. They did say there was some pushing to do, so have a light bike and not much kit.

Enjoy
