Replacing lost Compostela from years ago

I tried searching for the answer to this but came up short so wondering whether anyone can help.

Long story short, 8 years ago I lost my and my friend's certificate in between the compostela office and the hotel. At the time we both didn't take any notice but a few years later my friend mentioned that she didn't have anything to show for her walk and I've felt bad ever since.

I am walking there again this year and was wondering whether there was any possiblity of pre-printing an old certificate when I'm at the office? Don't really care about mine because I'm walking it again but I would love to surprise my friend with hers 😁

Would anyone happen to know?

TIA!

Short answer, no.

The pilgrim's office won't give you a compostela for someone else, whether they walked last week, last year or eight years ago. This is a definitive answer, not an anecdote.

Sorry

Given the reply from Flog, you might think of asking for your Compostela to be named for your friend... in carie pro, or something like that...

I agree with you Kirkie but I believe that Flog would have to show the credentials that he had stamped 8 years ago. That may present a problem for him.If he has his as you say he could possibly use it to get a cert for his friend .
Without any credentials I fear it's not a goer.

That said, is it possible for someone who has lost a Compostela and knows when they walked to get a replacement (paying printing and shipping costs, of course)? Are records kept which would allow them to verify and re-issue? If so, at the very least Patz can tell their friend how to replace the lost certificate and once again have something to show.

Or, if was an "in vicare pro" Compostela, to provide the same information for the Compostela and get a replacement issued, once again "in vicare pro"?

If your friend isn't likely to walk into Santiago again herself:
When you arrive as a pilgrim, why not just get your own compostela and have it dedicated to your friend with her name added underneath
'In Vicarie Pro'..

And it would be a lovely surprise for her!
