In 2014, we had our first Pilgrim's dinner at the Bar Roncevalles con terazza. The fresh trout that night still lingers on my pallet.
I see now that the albergue offers dinner (and breakfast).
Who's had it and who recommends which?

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
My friend and I booked both dinner and breakfast for our camino this summer. Hopefully it won't be trout... :)

The albergue itself does not offer dinner nor breakfast, but they sell now tickets for pilgrimsdinner (€ 10,00) and breakfast (€ 3,50) in one of the two restaurants (La Posada and Casa Sabina). So you can decide whether you want to do this or not.
In fact I do not recommend to take a breakfast: the restaurant doe not open before 7 AM and then you will have to queue up to get your breakfast. In the albergue itself you will find lots of coin operated vending machines, where you can buy sandwiches, fruit, yoghurt and drinks for a small breakfast, and in a half hours walk you will be in Burguete where you can have a proper breakfast in a coffee bar.

In nearby Burguete there is only one church, next to it is a small plaza and at the back of the plaza a GREAT cafe/bar which is open early every morning and very pilgrim friendly. Within their complex is the local fronton court. I have always stopped here on my way down from Roncesvalles. If is still dark as you leave Roncesvalles be sure to wear or carry your head torch.

Avoid breakfast. Starts at 7 (ie you get through the door long after) and was the most meagre bit of dry bread ever seen. No second helpings.
Walk on to the next village for supermarket and cafe

Dinner - basic but social. Not many options unless you cook yourself

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

After walking in rainy and chilly Galicia for about a week I ended up in a warm hotel room, feverish and with a cold. And I asked myself: why am I doing this? It felt like truancy, but I decided...
Hi I am curious to know what snake this is, just after Astorga before Murias de Rechivaldo ... lovely little thing!
We are leaving Sahagún and can’t find any coffee for breakfast. Any advice or has someone seen any on the way. Saludos Nando

I finally got around to having my Compostela and certificates framed. Doing so was more time consuming, irritating and painful than walking. The first attempt by the framers had everything at odd...
I will be volunteering for 15 days at the Pilgrim’s Office in Santiago in late October . I understand that volunteers no longer fill out Compostela’s because a computer prints the names and...
