Santiago airport (Lavacolla) to Villafranca del Bierzo

Hi there, can anyone suggest the best way to get from the airport in Santiago de Compostela to Villafranca Del Bierzo? My flight arrives at 4:20 PM on a Sunday and I may not be in time to catch the 5:45 pm Alsa bus. Then there is a later bus at 9:30 pm but it arrives in Villafranca del Bierzo at about 1 o’clock in the morning which is not ideal. Should I spend the night in SDC and catch a bus to Villafranca del bierzo the next day? Or, since I noticed the airport is actually located in Lavacolla, should I try to catch a bus or a train Sunday evening in the general direction of Villafranca Del Bierzo and spend a night a bit closer, such as in Lugo or Ourense? Then make my way to Villafranca del Bierzo the next morning? Thanks.

If it were me, I'd sleep in Santiago and get to Villafranca the next day. Especially if I'd had a long journey getting there.
