Santiago to Madrid

Hello All!

So, Ryan Air is causing me a bit of grief. I have attempted to purchase tickets from Santiago to Madrid and it shuts down every time at the payment stage ARg! I also had a travel agent attempt to handle it and she is running into the same difficulty.

Any thoughts on how to travel to Madrid from Santiago? We will have 3 days once we end in Santiago and don't mind making it an adventure...car rental, places to see...maybe the Camino is already laying out a more unknown, relaxed travel for us LOL

All the best!
Mandy :D

There is also a bus which is cheaper -however and this is a big however- the ride is long and arduous, the stops are few and far between requiring a bladder the size of a watermelon, one arrives in Madrid with bones shaken and aches plus pains as never experienced walking the Camino, and despite the promise to arrive at Barajas you still must change buses at the Central Bus Station in downtown Madrid to get out to the airport. Not a real consideration unless there are some few iniquities for which one must still atone for.

My husband and I traveled from Santiago to Madrid by rental car at the end of June ! The company we used was Europcar which has an office at the railway station in Santiago. Great company, great service. We had a four hour drive to Salamanca (partly via the highway, partly via the back roads) where we spent one night -- it's a wonderful and beautiful city ! The next day we continued on to Madrid, a two-hour drive ! Next time we would do the same thing. It is relaxing and offers you a lot of flexibility!

I just booked a flight from SDC to Madrid thru Ryan for 28 euros using the websites that Ivar listed, Thanks. Also booked a couple of nights in a hostel in Madrid. That makes all my travel arrangements complete, except, Me walking from SJPDP to SDC. Hoping to have enuf time to take in Muxia.

Thanks :D
