Signs "against the current"?

Time of past OR future Camino
Ávila-Astorga-Leon/El Salvador/Primitivo (2010); Camino Francés/de San Olav/Fisterre (2014)
Hi folks!
I plan to walk the Camino del Salvador in September. Starting from Avila I will join the Camino Frances in Astorga, and walk for a couple of days on the CF “against the current” to Léon, where C del Sal starts. (I could somehow “jump” to Camino Madrid, thou; and meet CF in Sahagun>Leon, but rather not)

Is it possible/ difficult to follow the path in the wrong direction; Astorga-Leon? And is this direction marked with other signs in any way?

Today is the feast of St. Olav... (Nidaros, Norway)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Look for the spiral arrow, usually in blue. They are said to be pretty good. Take a map just in case you need it.

I haven't been on that part of the Camino Frances in years, but in 2006 I met someone walking backwards who told us it was simple -- when she got to a fork and couldn't figure out which way to go, she waited for a minute or two to see which way the pilgrims came from. If in May, 2006, this was an easy way to do it, I imagine the pilgrim count in Sept. 2010 will be even higher and will make your wait time much less. Not a high tech solution, but pretty reliable, I'd think.

Buen camino, Laurie

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).
Thank you, Falcon and Peregrina2000. I really appreciate your easy and efficient advices. I’ll look up for blue spiral arrow, bring a map and if I become confused, I’ll wait for someone showing up; paradoxically blessed by the crowds ☺

Gracias,
Oyvind

Markers are something like this, but usually in blue, and often on the backside of a marker for going to Santiago. White was used here to contrast with the pavement.

Oh so that's what those markers are for! I thought they were some sort of pataphysical graffiti.

I don't think you'll have any trouble at all, oylero -- and by the way, I walked the Salvador in late September and it was spectacular! Buen camino, Laurie

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

Oylero...I just walked from Santiago to SJPP "al contrario" the reverse way this summer. The blue swirly arrow was painted by a Brasilian named Eduardo. He's a friend of Acacio's at Viloria de Rioja. They are not always available, but saved me many times. I usually found someone showed up coming the other way when I was lost however fewer pilgrims walk from 2pm to 5pm and that's when it was really tricky. It's an incredible journey going backwards. You get to see the faces of the pilgrims walking towards you and that is truly a gift. Suseya. Sue
