Heading out for the Camino from St Jean on March 31 with my brother in law. Hiked from St Jean to Burgos last year before family issues required my return home and Im dying to get back.

The Camino really takes over your life during the few months leading up to the departure date.

Will arrive March 29th and taking a couple days to enjoy St Jean and rest up from jet lag before we head to Orrison on the 31st(hopefully... if it is open)

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
Hi M , before you leave go to the Pilgrimsoffice for info about the Napoleon route iff it's open or not .
When it's closed you have to walk the Valcarlos route.
ps, normally the Napoleon will be closed till atleast the end of March.

Wish you well and a Buen Camino,Peter.

Peter,

Thanks. We are prepared to do either route. I have been in contact with the refuge in Orrison and will give them a call after we check the pilgrims office. Having an extra day to bum around St Jean gives us a lot of flexibility to adapt plans. Heck, if the pass might open in a couple more days after we arrive we may stay in St Jean and see what happens. Our rough schedule gives us up to 12 days of flex time to do whatever we want.

Best wishes!
