Closer to 2019.
Funny that I could compare April/May 2019 and 2023 more or less directly and had the feeling it was similar
Your arithmetic must be different to mine. 2023=10,855, 2019=10,358, 2018=10,837.

When I went to school 10,837 was closer to 10,855 than 10,358. Maybe you went to a different school.

No, you do it all wrong 🤣

Actually, the bane of tiny numbers on a tiny screen. I simply misread one digit 🙈

But i most certainly went to a different school!

I am much more interested in the weekly statistics for May from the French group who administer the Pilgrim Office in St. Jean.

My guess was that the peak moved forward about two weeks.

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).

at least that was the feeling I also got from when people started complaining this year!

Would be fun to have proper heat maps for each day / week so you could see it everywhere from all Caminos ... this could be extracted from cell-phone data as they did during the pandemic. But I guess data protection would not allow it.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

This confirms my observations last month, which was no more than usual on the CF paths in the last 7 years except for 2021 when a lot of the world was restricted, and of course 2020 when I could not go. I actually experienced far fewer crowds and pilgrims in general walking/cycling between Sarria and Santiago this year. I suspect a lot of Compostelas were issued to busigrinos and taxigrinos.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
