What is a good temperature rating for a sleeping bag on Camino Francés in May?

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
By May temperatures will be on the rise. Higher elevations will be cool, but there are blankets in all the albergues except the xunta albergues in Galicia. Unless you need the extra warmth of a sleeping bag, a sleeping bag liner will be sufficient. You may have to ask for a blanket, because they may be packed away after the end of winter. If you decide on a sleeping bag, the inside of albergues in May will never drop below 50-60F, so the lightest sleeping bag you can find will be sufficient.

Buen camino!

I walked the Camino in April/May last year. My sleeping bag (North Face) had a rating 4-11 C. Some days that was too much, but overall is was a good choice...

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

I carried a +5degC rated bag in Apr/May 2010. It was used regularly at the beginning, but by late Apr I was mainly just using a liner and using the bag just as a blanket when it got a bit colder at night.

Thank you for the information it is very helpful. Did you encounter any serious bedbug issues?

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

I didn't encounter any bedbugs, but you need to check at the time you are travelling. Checking now won't necessarily be a good guide should a pilgrim bring them into the albergues they stay at, and the bedbugs begin to spread.

Walking Frances May 2014, planning to bring a very light weight fleece sleeping bag which could also be used as a liner but its actually called a sleeping bag. Super comfy and cheap!
Here a link to the one I bought: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00FGP69AO/?tag=casaivar02-20
Says 2 pounds package but the bag only weighs 1 lb. I have to say its also more sturdy in person than the picture. Not bulky, takes up little room in the backpack. Let us know what you go with?

I walked the CF in May/June 2013 and saw two cases of bedbugs, one young ladies neck was all bit up! But I never had a problem because I brought a worn out fitted sheet and pillowcase that I had sprayed with permethrin. I also sprayed my sleeping bag and backpack. When possible I used my large S-hook to hang my backpack on the bed. No bedbugs.

The standard response to what to do when you get bed bugs, is to wash and dry everything at 60 degrees. But if you do that to your silk sleeping bag liner or your merino socks or t shirts or down...
