Sleeping Bag vs Sleeping Bag Liner in May

Good morning everyone!

I am going to be hiking the Camino in May and was wondering if you think it will be cold enough to bring a sleeping bag, or if a sleeping bag liner will be enough. On the flip side, if it is cold enough for a sleeping bag should I also bring a liner to keep out bed bugs?

My sleeping bag is a bit bulky but I am going to look at some light weight ones today. Was just hoping to save that money for the Camino :)

Thanks!!

Reasonably warm? I don't need to be HOT, but if I'm shivering I probably won't sleep very well.

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
I think a lightweight sleeping bag would be ideal. I took a liner first time (October) and had to buy a sleeping bag. A liner is optional. Some people treat their bag/liner for bed bugs. Search for that in the forum.
We put together a lightweight list in another thread. Have a look at my comparison here: https://www.caminodesantiago.me/com...-the-lightest-sleeping-bag.32405/#post-290289
I am picking the Magic 125 zip. It is only 130 euro (without vat). Superlight (285g) and warm enough for the Camino.

THanks for the list! Do you think a one season sleeping bag would do? I've found a few good deals on Amazon but most of them are for 5+, so don't know how helpful it would be!

For spring/summer use, a 5c bag is plenty. Most people used a bag rated between 7-15c. I used Quechua rated 15c in October. Remember, most alberques have blankets. You should be concerned about its weight if you are carrying your pack.

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).
