Just thought I’d sent a friendly note to anyone who wants to book a train ticket in France. SNCF are having a sale atm (mid to late Jan 2018) not too sure how good it is overall, but I was lucky enough to get a train ticket for 60 euros from Paris to Bayonne.

Buen Camino Pilgrims.

Many thanks for the information. Do you need to be travelling in January or can they be booked for any time of the year but purchased at sale price in January? If I were using this it would probably be April. Thanks

Sales are up to a certain date. This sale could include your date i don't know. But they are not normally for much more than a couple of months.
The best thing to do is to book early as you get the best price. Prices do go up. Don't wait hoping to get a cheaper seat in a sale. All the seats might sell out.
Always check the price of 1st class as it can be similar to 2nd class.
I think Paris to Bayonne starts around €45, and 1st class starts around €50.

Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.

€46,-

For purchasing rail tickets check out man in seat 61. Seat61.com. Mark explains the ins and outs of train travel. There are a number of companies you can book through. Read through the pros and cons of each company. Never book point to point tickets with raileurope. BTW tickets within France for the type of train you are looking for are normally available 92 days in advance. The less expensive tickets are non refundable so you need to be sure about your departure time-if you desire such a ticket. Book as early as possible. Normally, the more sold the higher the price so book early if you can.

Last year I traveled from Marseille to Barcelona to Valencia. In Barcelona the computer would not recognize the ticket because it was purchased at SNCF. For some reason if you purchase the tickets in France things dont translate in Spain. Luckily I speak spanish and was able to find a kind ticket officer that did the nescesary talking with a lot of people to get me thru. So sale or no sale be careful.

I’m traveling late April if that helps. The 60 euro was for first class... only 3 euro extra so I thought I’d splurge. Seems like the sale was for any booking... it seemed anyway.
