My husband and I are heading out of Porto taking the coastal route, turning in around Vigo. Just wondering how many kilometers/miles that would make our journey.
Thanks for your help!
Does this cover the coastal route or only the main inland route? I was under the impression that there wasn't much on the coastal route in any guide yet.
The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Just did that same route in October ... Coastal from Porto to Vigo then inland to Redondela and north to Santiago is 150 miles. Johnnie Walker has an excellent guide available in print or to download.
These are distances along shoreline route so will be shorter if you follow another route slightly inland.
1.Porto to Povoa de Varzim - 27km
2. Povoa de Varzim to Esposende - 21km
3. Esposende to Viana do Castelo - 25km 4. Viana do Castelo to A Guarda - 37km includes Ferry from Caminha
5. A Guarda to Baiona - 32km
6. Baiona to Vigo - 27km
Total to Vigo approx. 169km

I have done the route from Matisinhos, you get off Metro at Mercado and start walking crosiing the bridge there...to Redondela where it joins the official Portuguese Way from Tui to Santiago e Compostela. I have written detailed notes of the route including directions, places of interest, places to stay etc in english for CaminoWays.com see http://caminoways.com/ways/portuguese-coastal-way-caminho-da-costa/portuguese-coastal-way-section-1 I have also just posted a video I've done on YouTube see
Ideal sleeping bag liner whether we want to add a thermal plus to our bag, or if we want to use it alone to sleep in shelters or hostels. Thanks to its mummy shape, it adapts perfectly to our body.
Hi everyone!
I am planning my first Camino Portuguese, starting in Porto in early April. It just so happens we arrive in Santiago on Easter weekend. I'm very much looking forward to seeing...
