My son and I travelled last year, and for the most part, sleeping in dormitories, and not necessarily eating the pilgrim's meals every night, but having good food anyway, we spent between 25 and 30 Canadian Dollars each day (each of us)... I think you would be spot on with 25 to 30 american,
best wishes for your trip!
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
I spent $40 canadian each day. which is pretty close to $40 USD right now.
The Euro was $1.35 Canadian when I was there, April/May of 2010
I don't know about 22 days. Saint Jean Pied du Port to Santiago is 780 kms so you need to walk an average of 35 kms every day. While many people bang off 1 or 2 days over 30 kms, I think an average of 20 to 25 kms per day and 31 to 33 days is more common. I met two Germans who covered the distance in 25 days, but I think they were on drugs.
You'll figure it out.
Have a blast.

My budget was 30 Euro a day, not including unexpected expenses like having to buy shoes in Logrono or a knee brace in Ponferrada. I easily could have gone on 20-25 Euro/day, but liked having a little extra padding on my budget for fun things like museum admission or a jar of peanut butter (which really was a treat!).
Zubiri was full early yesterday (by 2:30, according to some pilgrims who came to Pamplona today), but Zubiri opened up a municipal building just past the town for some pilgrims to sleep on the...
Just an FYI that all available beds are taken in SJPDP tonight - fully, truly COMPLETO! There’s an indication of how busy this year may be since it’s just a Wednesday in late April, not usually...
My friend is trying to figure out bookings/lodging. She started in SJPDP Friday, ended up walking the Winter route to Roncesvalles in one day, only to find no bed so bused back to SJPDP to sleep...
Hello everyone,
This is a cry for help. I post this on behalf of my wife, who is walking the camino at the moment. Her backpack was taken away from the reception of the albergue Benedictina's...
Within the past few hours there have been two stories on local news media reporting that the Guardia Civil have been successful in returning lost passports to pilgrims. One in Najera, the other in...
