Not sure where to post this, so here goes:

A friend of mine who knows about my impending trip on the camino and around the world has offered me a $500 donation to help with my expenses. I have not been soliciting donations for my trip, since I am still keeping it under wraps at work. Anyways, my question is this: should I accept this money? There are no strings attached, she just wants to help me out. $500 could pay for most of my camino expenses (obviously not my airfare) and free up money for the rest of my trip, possibly even allow me to make small donations to organizations I plan to volunteer with in Africa/India/Thailand.

Any thoughts?

Say thank you very much and make a friend happy by allowing her the pleasure of giving. Then offer to carry a stone for her and to remember her to the saint when you get to Santiago! (That's how it was done in the middle ages!)

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Thanks for the thoughts. I was just caught off guard by the offer. I have decided to accept. It appears my RTW ticket will be costing me more than I originally thought, so this money will help out a lot.
