Via Francigena from Orsières, Switzerland
Hello, who can tell me if it is possible to leave between May 1st and May 15th? Is the pass of the great St. Bernard is passable? (The pass road is closed to cars, but can pilgrims pass by? Thank you for your answers

Hi Elcenvol,
I'm walking the entire VF (starting London) from next month (March) & will be in the area of Gt St Bernard Pass at approx the end of the first week of May. I am expecting not to be able to cross the Pass & have made my plans based on that assumption. When I get there, if it proves it might be possible to reach the Pass (ie mild winter, early thaw, etc), I'll sort it out then. However, at that time, crossing the Pass is definitely Plan B..not Plan A.
All the best for your walk...maybe I'll see you 'out there' somewhere!
