My wife and I will be starting from Oloron on May 21, but you'll be long gone by then. Be sure to stay at the monastery in Sarrance!

I've been interested in that route for some time, and would be very grateful to know how it goes, what accommodation is available this early in the season, and how long it takes. I start from St. Jean on 1st April, but slowly, so you might overtake me at some point.

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
Probably I hike/walk caminos a bit different than most pelgrims, because I (wild)camp most of the nights. So I'm not dependend on the availability of accomadation under a roof. Especially in France there are many official camping sites, and if not, faire du bivouac has never been a problem.
In the thousands of kilometers and hundreds of nights I walked, I never once made a reservation and always found a place to sleep.
But I understand if for some people that's maybe a bit too adventurous. It's just the way I like to do it.

Enjoy ! I love this route and recommend the alternate route by Le Petit Rhône when leaving the city.

I plan to leave Arles to walk the chemin d’Arles on the 8th April so you will be about 2 weeks in front of me. I’ll be going fairly slow initially so I don’t think we will meet, but you never know.
I also will have a tent so I can stop when my legs tell me they have had enough walking for the day.
