Starting from Roncesvalles on July 6!

Hi everyone!
My boyfriend and I will be arriving in Roncesvalles on 5 July and will start walking on 6 July. We would have started in SJPP of course but would need to get another COVID test to get into France and back into Spain since it hasn’t been 2 weeks since our 2nd vaccine dose.

This is our 3rd Camino and 2nd time doing the Frances. Super excited to meet people and shake of the dust!

I’m excited for you! I had an amazing time on the Camino today. I walked Refuge Orisson to Viscarret after busing from Pamplona to SJPDP and will just say that there were zero checks at any point in crossing between the two countries. That being said, your decision is entirely sensible.

One anecdote from today which I’ll just tack on because it’s not worthy of its own thread. I stopped in a bar which didn’t have a printed menu and explained to the bartender that “Soy vegetariano”. He paused for a moment and asked “English or Français?” I guess it’s “No como la carne” from now on.

As my middle name is Josiah , I thought I'd say " Hi!", there not being too many of us , to the best of my knowledge ~That's as far as it goes tho good buddy, as I am a dyed in the wool carnivore! Notwithstanding, have a great camino !

Thanks for the info! I so want to start in SJPP! Maybe I can convince my guy to chance it

We had some friends on the last Camino that didn’t eat meat, and the clarified this over and over with a waiter who them brought them a big plate of jamón. Then he smacked himself in the head and said, “jamón- also a meat!”
