Time of past OR future Camino
September 2015
I'll be starting my solo Camino in mid-September in Astorga. I'm trying to decide whether to book a hotel room (Hotel Gaudi) my first night or reserve a room in an albuergue. I'll be arriving in Astorga late afternoon either by bus or train from Santiago and would like to know where I'll sleep this first night ahead of time. I'd welcome any recommendations/advice.

Thanks,
Sara

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Hi Sara,
I stayed in Hotel Gaudi when I got to Astorga in September last year. It is situated across the Gaudi building and very close to the cathedral. It's a nice hotel. The room had a bath which was very welcome after weeks of walking.
There's an Albergue near the cathedral as well (not sure what it's called). I heard from my Camino mates that it was a nice one (they spent the night there).
Buen Camino!

I have stayed at Gaudi several times and booked there again in a couple of weeks. Ask for an external room with view to the cathedral or the Gaudi Palace. It is a nice hotel with a good menu del dia if you arrive early. Never tried any breakfast. Think the bar opens at 7. If you are going to leave early, pay in the evening.
