Starting My Pilgrimage in September

Hi,

I am Steve, from the US and I've just joined this forum. I will be starting from SJPP in early September on a pilgrimage. My destination is unknown and the discovery of where my journey is calling me is part of my hope for the camino.

Between now and August 20, I am in the process of giving away most of my possessions and putting what little I still care about into a small storage unit and giving notice to my landlord. Then I will be moving from this community that I've called home for the past 38 years and hitting the trail with the expectation that life has lots of opportunities for learning and service. I expect to be on the Camino for 40 to 50 days and then I will be interested to see where my path leads, whether I will continue to travel or find somewhere else to settle. After many years of being responsible, I am really looking forward to the freedom of the road, to meeting new friends and to discovering life with fewer attachments.

Welcome to the wanderers club Steve.
I have found great happiness in the collection of experiences, rather than assets.
This time I'm strolling to Santiago from SJPDP around September 1st.
I have no life planned after Santiago and enjoy the anticipation that particular freedom brings.

I too will be on the camino in Sept I'm planing to walk it in 45/50 days.
Maybe we'll run into each other.

Hi Steve admire you buddy. I'm doing the same giving up the rental of my flat and selling my car ect. Also lost my job so taking the bull by the horns and going to do this walk. hopefully I will find what I'm looking for. So don't worry I'm with you mate and hopefully bump into you as I will be travelling about the same time. All the best Stu

i really know where you're coming from when you mention having been responsible for the last 38 years and now it's time for adventure. it's scary, exciting, thrilling to just have things open ended, no particular goal in mind except to maybe find oneself a little more. my son, two friends and i will be leaving sjpp on the 5th of sept. may see you there. good luck on the road.
