My wife (71 years old) and I (73 years old) are starting Via de la Plata & Sanabres on April 20 from Seville. Our first Camino was Camino Frances in 2009 and we walked Via de la Plata until Zamora in 2011. We also walked majority of Camino del Norte in 2018. This year we plan to walk all the way to Santiago de Compostella and we are excited and nervous at the same time.
Because of our age we will walk maximum about 20 km daily if possible and take 5 or 6 rest days.
We also plan to stay at double room at a private albergue/casa rural/hotel if at all possible to have a nice sleep and rest. I have been compiling the list of these private lodgings.
My research shows that a dormitory type albergue is the only option at around 5 stages.
We are trying to minimize the backpack weight and so are wondering whether we need to bring at least down blanket for our stay at a dormitory type albergue just in case they do not provide a blanket.
We will slow down and enjoy our walking together and challenge at our age.
Hope to meet fellow peregrinos on the road and Buen Camino!!
