Pamplona is one of favourite cities on the Camino, with its own special atmosphere and energy. I've stayed in a few excellent albergues but not really relevant for the OP, but definitely worth a couple of days stay. I sympathise with J Willhaus being treated like a homeless person ... It happens, unfortunately, but less often on the Camino than elsewhere, perhaps because you meet millionaires on the way who look like tramps, which I suppose is what we all are, temporarily. I was in a cafe in Estella this morning looking and feeling a bit rough and the lady who gave me a coffee and asked "algun mas?" as I carefully counted 1.20 in small change. I said no, and she slid a 2 euro pecan pastry along the counter free of charge. That's the Camino for me, just that. Nothing can prepare you for the sheer decency and kindness of the people on the way, pilgrims, hospitaleros and locals alike.
