Train up to nearby Sagunto, (ancient name Saguntum), and explore the ruins on the hill there. Site of the first battle of the 2nd Punic War, 219-218 BC. Hannibal won. Stunning vistas.

Walk in the ribbon of park through the city. From the city centre, you can go east past the Museo de Las Ciencias and other dramatic architecture to the Mediterranean, or walk west past recreational facilities ranging from soccer to chess to pole vaulting. Very interesting people-watching on a nice day.

I believe you can still check one of the contenders for the "Holy Grail" at the cathedral. Going to the top of the tower is also pretty cool.

Have a refreshing horchata.

Take the speedy train out to Girona, another beautiful medieval town where they filmed Game of Thrones and some Korean fantasy series.

Do not miss out on a traditional Valencian paella which includes rabbit, chicken and Roman beans. I was sent to a resto on the beach by the owner of the hostal where I stayed.
