@simeon The website states 11:00 for the 'Capitular Mass' (that is celebrated by the Chapter of Canons of the Cathedral). This does not have to be sung, but if any one is going to be it will be this one. (I am a Catholic priest ).
The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.
Ah great thanks I had no idea what a Capitularass mass was. No better way to experience a cathedral than being there for what it was built for! Imho you don't really get the spirit of a cathedral with an audio guide when it's all reduced to a history lesson. Before the forum members get upset. I won't be acting the tourist but will be partaking in the mass. I will do the tourist thing later in the day.
If you go to the collegiate church of San Isidoro, they hold a Mozarabic mass (the rite used in Spain under the Moors) once a week. IIRC this is one of the three places in Spain where this still happens-- I have tried to figure out from its website (http://www.sanisidorodeleon.org/) what the mass times were, but to no avail. I recall that the times were posted outside the church. It is about 10 minutes walk from the cathedral and perhaps 15 from the main albergue.
I've just read this article from La Voz de Galicia. A Camino guide and frequent pilgrim with over 30 years of Camino experience calling for some greater regulation of numbers - at least on the...
Can anyone give me (newbie!) some guidance on planning my stages after Roncesvalles? I currently have lodging booked Zubiri, Pamplona and then Puente la Reine, and on from there. I would prefer...
Big stupid question: what if, in the middle of a stage, I realize I can't really walk anymore? For whatever reason, fatigue, pain, etc. How others have treated this? Are there buses usually...
Hi everyone:
I'm hoping to hike the Camino Frances in July/Aug. I would love to, ahead of time, order and ship ahead a pair of my favorite hiking shoes (Hokas) so that, roughly halfway through...
Hi,
I’m an 18-year-old leaving for the Camino Frances in a few days. I’m doing it solo with quite a small spanish vocabulary and those are the two things that I’m a bit nervous about. Any last...
