Taxi from Biarritz airport to SJPP

Hi,
My friend and I are starting our first Camino Frances on 4th September. How much should we expect to pay for a taxi from Biarritz airport to SJPP please?

Here is a link to Express Bouricott with their prices on transport. You must book in advance. You can also take the bus from the Airport to Bayonne and then the train into SJPDP.

A cab ride would be about 30 minutes if I recall. Sorry, but I am unsure of that cost as we took Express Bouricott. There may be others on your flight who would also share a regular cab as this is a popular time to start the Camino from St Jean. Look for backpacks and make new friends at the airport!

I was due to arrive late on May 2nd no bus ,train or Express Bouricott (their last pick up was at 18.00 ) a taxi was going to cost 130 Euros!

The journey takes about an hour, more if there's traffic. Cost should be anywhere between €130-€150.

it all depends what time you arrive in Biarritz. Sounds like you’re looking for the simplest route from the airport to SJPD. If that is the case Express Bourricot is your best option (as mentioned by @J Willhaus ).

If that’s not the case and you’re looking for a cheap option, you can catch a bus from Biarritz Airport to Gare Bayonne and then catch the train to SJPD. It’s a bit of mucking around, if it’s your first time in Biarrit/Bayonne, but it is possible to do. The local bus tickets can be bought from a Txik Txak machine (cost is about €1.80) or On board the bus if there is an inspector. Bus drivers don’t sell tickets. Some of the Tabaco stores and newsagents also sell them. Bus journey takes about 30 minutes, depending on the number of stops. Can get you the exact time tomrrow if you’re intereste.

Then you can buy a ticket on the train to SJPD. It leaves at different times (weekdays v weekends). Rome-to-Rio (Omio) or SNCF-Connect will have the current relevant times. If you’re going with this option I’d book my train ticket from Bayonne in advance (you can either print the ticket off or use the PDF QR code you’ll be sent by displaying it on your phone if asked by the train inspectors. Both options work). Getting on board the train with a backpack is a free-for-all. Everyone is trying to get on quickly. I can explain how the trains (regional v TGV) work if you’d like more detail and walk you through the process (more as re-assurance). It can be a little daunting in a foreign country, if it’s your first time and particularly if you’re also concerned about language skills.

Good thing is most people will try to help. I know that the French can sometimes be considered a little stand-off-ish but that isn’t the case in Bayonne. Most are super helpful.

The train times from Bayonne to SJPD varies depending on time and day of the week. But shouldn’t cost more than €20.

Just did the bus journey Biarritz Airport to Gare de Bayonne N4 bus route, took 40 minutes. With all the bus lanes, it’s not likely you’d get delayed by traffic.

€1.80, single ride. Purchased at Txik Txak machine. Used my Australian credit card, no issues.
