The people we don’t yet know …anticipatory Buen Caminos

Time of past OR future Camino
CF pt2, Belorado to Sarria, May 21 – June 12, 2022
Sitting here in northern England, it occurs to me that there are pilgrims starting to walk from SJPdP today, or leaving Roncesvalles, who my partner Andrew and I might meet in a week and a half, when we resume our Camino from Belorado. Perhaps other pilgrims we’ll meet are further along the route but have needed to stop for a while.

I find it curious, to imagine these people that we’ll get to know in the near future, who are perhaps right now struggling with tight muscles, navigating rocks, or arriving weary at an albergue. It’s a bit hippy, but I wonder whether positive thoughts might reach them. I also wonder what fate has in store, in terms of future meetings and conversations. Paths destined to meet at x point in time.

Do others here think about this, I wonder? Is it just me being weird? 😬

Either way, I’m sending a few abstract Buen Caminos toward Navarre.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
What a lovely thought and thank you ! I leave tomorrow and am starting my Camino Frances journey in SJPP on May 15th which puts me in Belorado about May 25 if all goes well. We may cross paths ….

Lhollo,

You are not alone in this line of thought. I do not see it as being weird or hippy but as a manifestation of agape love for each other. We are all connected. Camino time is fluid.

Buen Camino!

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.
Currently, my thoughts, well wishing, and most importantly, practical help, is directed towards the people of Ukraine.
Most others are missing out.

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

I know you probably mean well but I found that a hurtful comment. I wrote a lot more just now but deleted it. The issues are so, so, so profound but the crux here is that the two things—1) a pilgrimage, which is surely always done with the best possible intentions, often very deep ones; and 2) caring about war and the people suffering through it—these things must never be mutually exclusive!

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Oooh, you’ll be just three days behind me when I leave Belorado. I wonder whether we’ll meet!

Buen Camino for the 15th, and onwards. Not long to go!

Correct, there was no need for the comment at all. Most people will have empathy and worry for the Ukrainian people without feeling the need to hijack a thoughtful post on a message board.

How kind of you! I’m surprised anyone remembered but that’s really lovely to know! I’m sure the next leg will bring me smiles… so long as my luck does hold out. Either way, it’ll be what it’s meant to be, and I can’t wait! I’ll do a live thread here again, I think. Thanks again, Woody 🙏
