Torrijos has just informed that its albergue, Padre Leocadia, is open again.
Something new is that we must contact the Tourism Office before arriving, to get a code.
This code is used to open a box at the albergue's door, which contain the key.
If you cannot contact the TO, the code may be obtained at the Police station.
Buen Camino

I stayed at the albergue about a week ago. I used the code provided by the Tourism Office . Several days later, I met two pilgrims who arrived at Torrijos separately after 5.30pm. One asked the Police man in a car for the code. He was told the albergue was closed and to go to a hotel on the edge of town.

The second pilgrim was told at the Police Station the albergue was closed and to proceed to the hotel at the edge of town. Both pilgrims were charged Euro 65 for the night each.

Anyone arriving in Torrijos after the Tourism Office has closed must proceed to the police station located next door ( open 24/7) and demand the code. The albergue is definitely open.

I have been making my plans to start the Levante in Valencia on 01 September ,all being well. All I have read points to an isolated experience where a reasonable command of Spanish is an asset...
