Hi,
i was thinking of starting next month or so and someone mentioned that the Tour de France might get in the way... especially because i am planning on taking a tent and sleeping outside as well... but also in general... is it true? should i drop it and start someplace else instead?

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Not sure of your dates, but you can find the Tour de France schedule here:

I have made a note that "le Tour" crosses / connects with the Vezelay path on July 14th on the stage – Limoges to Issouden, and also it goes through Vezelay on July 16th. Don't forget that the French national day - Bastille Day is on July 14th. You will need to take these things into account if you are walking then. Cheers, Janet

Hallo zohard, we are just back from the vezelay route. Walked from Vezelay to Sauveterre de bearn.
Great walk with very few people (have met 15 pilgrims alltogether) and plenty of places to camp, in the open or,better , in the camping grounds that many of the villages can provide. This said, i believe that the type of accomodations pilgrims are after are certainly different from the ones tour fans will be looking for. We heard that summer months are not too busy on the walk for two reasons, first most of pilgrims want to get to Santiago in july, second summer months can be very hot ( also may was rather hot sometimes ).
