Camino portuguese april (2015)
Will be walking the leg from tui to santiago in early april with a friend; we are in early 60s and want the support of transferred luggage and hotel reservations. Anyone have any experience with a company offering this type of support? Looking for clean accommodations and reliable service. Don't want to have pkg deal that requires meals. Wd also like transportation from airport in lisbon to tui. Thanks much!

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Gijane,
I have asked Magwood about luggage transfer and we will see what I get for a reply. Also I have ordered Brierley's guide and will see if he has info in there. Mario of the Santarém hostel may also have info as he seems to be a great supporter of the route.
I too will want transfer of luggage if possible because of foot problems on the Frances this year. Keep me posted if you find the answer too please.
Thanks!
Stefania

Stefania, Will let u know what i learn. Thx for your response. Giving strong consideration to CaminoWays.com, as they have been most informative and responsive to questions...also, because i and friend wanted hotel accommodations as well.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Yes
It is really not necessary to have someone make your arrangements. Hotels and other private accommodations can be reserved by phone the day before or on the same day while walking. There are lists of available accommodations along with phone numbers.
This gives you the most flexibility in where to stop or spend an extra day.

Most find the planning and investigation one of the most exciting parts of a Camino. Having all rooms/albergues/beds pre-determined takes away the ability to change stops and distances while on the Camino.
Suggest you don't overplan and let it happen as much as possible.

From Tui you will see stickers of TUITRANS offering luggage services on lampposts and in albergues.
Hotels, hostals are mentioned in John Brieleys guide.
About transport from Lisbon ask at the website of the Portugese railways or maybe some of our Portugese forumfriends can tell something about it.
I thought there was a bus going on from Lisbon to Valença and from there it is 4 kms walk to Tui.

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

We used Macs Adventures omn our first camino (not the full Camino) and although we didn't get luggage transfers they will organise it. Newex holidays also arrange similar trips. The accomodation we have been allocated was brilliant. I can understand the wish to have the security of pre booked accomodation and en route support. Do it whichever way suits you and enjoy.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

There is no need to pre-book on the the entire caminho Portuges at all.
On the Lisbon to Porto leg only a few people walk per annum untill now and the Porto to Santiago leg is a bit bussier but nothing to bother.
Don't expect many 5 star accomodations on the route.
By pre booking you miss the great places to stay like Mario's hostal in Santarèm, Solo Duro in Gôlega. Hilário's in Mealhada and Fernanda's in Vitorino dos Piaës. Portugal is a safe country with very kind and helpfull people and so you will encounter them at the southern Galicean part in Spain too.
It is everybody's own choice but I am glad I went for the "unknown" and found my way my self and with the advices on this great forum. For me it was a great adventure and the happy memories still live on.
