Hello all,

I'm going to be getting the train from Chamartin station, Madrid, to Oviedo this coming Sunday, May 29, and will start walking the Primitivo on May 30. So, it's an exciting time, knowing I'll be walking this next week! But it just dawned on me to wonder if it might be a good idea to pre-book the train ticket for Sunday. I'm guessing that won't be necessary, but it wouldn't be the first time I was wrong about something that struck me as being 'common sense' or 'logical'. So, any informed opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Yes, book it in advance. Sundays are busy days (specially afternoon/evening) so the train could be full. And by booking in advance you might get a discounted fare (if there was any still available).

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Hi Mark2012

I took the train from Chamartin to Oviedo earlier this month (on a Sunday) and I booked in advance. I got a discounted rate. However, the train was rather empty.

Thanks for the answers. Mixed reports, but it seems like there is nothing to lose by booking in advance!

Hi, has anyone walked the Primitivo in mid-October? What was it like? Weather, tracks and accommodation? I plan to walk from Oviedo to Lugo only, then bus to Santiago after. Thanks for your input.
