Camino Frances (May 2014)
Hello fellow travellers

Am leaving Pau on May 8 for St JPdP and am having difficulty in finding accurate timetables for the train/s. Can anyone help me please. If there is another way (perhaps a bus) would be glad to hear about that as well.

Thanks in anticipation.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.

Bon Voyage and Buen Chemin,

Thank you Margaret for the information and for mentioning the holiday. I seem to recall you cannot book for TGV trains but can I book for Intercities?
I am in a difficult position - may not make it to Pau due to very tight connection in Paris. Would prefer not to book if I can avoid it. Your advice (again) most appreciated.

Kind regards
Nicky

€2,-/day will present your project to thousands of visitors each day. All interested in the Camino de Santiago.

Nicky, is there a reason to go from Paris to Pau to Bayonne instead of straight from Paris to Bayonne?

Nicky,

You can book any French train up to 3 months in advance. Reservations are REQUIRED for TGV trains and advisable for others. Like Kanga I, too, ask why Pau and not direct from Paris? If Paris is an option scan this Forum topic on How to travel from Paris for more info.

Two options ... TER train or Transport64 bus

Ref TER Aquitaine
http://www.ter-sncf.com/regions/aquitaine/fr/default.aspx

Click Fiche Horaires

In the block marked 'Fiche Horaires de la region Aquitaine' see the drop list marked "Ma Ligne" and select 64 Pau-Dax-Bordeaux, 61 Hendaye-Dax-Bordeaux, and 62 Bayonne-Saint Jean Pied de Port. Each selection produces a list of schedules - select the one appropriate to dates of travel.

Transfer at Dax and Bayonne.

No reservations possible on TER trains.

There are TGV and intercites too ... see the SNCF site. Use this only from Pau to Bayonne ... for some reason the site eliminates options if you try to go from start of trip direct to SJPdP. There is no choice but TER train for Bayonne to SJPdP.

Transport64 bus network. It looks like its possible to get from Pau to SJPdP in as few as 3 transfers.

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
I just looked it up. You can fly from CDG to BIQ on May 8th for a $140. If that is cheap enough for you. You can book your flight with Kayak.com and fly one way with easyjet.
