Camino Frances 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016
I am taking a two-day detour from the Camino Frances, walking from Najera on Monday to Cañas, and then on Tuesday to San Millán to visit the Yuso and Suso monasteries. Then on Wed, I need to get to Santo Domingo. Does anyone know if there is a bus or affordable taxi service from San Millán to Santo Domingo? Google maps shows that it is about 20 km., so I could walk it, but if I could take a bus then I could spend see one of the monasteries Wed. morning, instead of both on Tuesday. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
From everything I have read (and a bit of searching on internet), there is no direct bus service between Santo Domingo and San Millán. The walk is also not terribly safe as you need to walk along the side of the highway. I have not visited either Yuso or Suso but am also interested in finding out about transportation as I will be in Santo Domingo for 2 weeks this summer as a hospitalera and hope to get out to San Millán to visit.

Apparently there is bus service between Nájera and San Millán.

Here is a link to their official site: http://www.monasteriodesanmillan.com/yuso/index.html.
They are managed separately with a entrance fee to both.

If you find out anything please post.

I do suggest visiting the Monasterio de Santa María de San Salvador in Cañas. It has lovely alabaster windows and a nice little museum.

We took a taxi from Nájera to San Millán de Cogolla for 22€. We stayed at the Casa Rural right there. We did both in the same day.

Technical backpack for day trips with backpack cover and internal compartment for the hydration bladder. Ideal daypack for excursions where we need a medium capacity backpack. The back with Air Flow System creates large air channels that will keep our back as cool as possible.
