After finishing the Camino I need to get to Porto. I've established that by train you first go to Vigo from where you get a train to Porto. Is there perhaps a direct bus service between SdC and Porto? Any other suggestions?

ALSA bus leave from Santiago for Porto every day type Alsa bus es, and you should get their site . (choose INTERNATIONAL once in their site)

Renfe train from Santiago train station to Vigo train station.

Monbus from Santiago bus station to Vigo bus station.

There is also Autna bus from Vigo bus station to Porto with a stop at Porto airport. There is no central bus station in Porto.
