Hi community

Has anybody an idea where to buy trekking poles near the Madrid Chamartin train station ?
I have only short time to change from airpot to train and would like to get some simple poles.

The 2024 Camino guides will be coming out little by little. Here is a collection of the ones that are out so far.

No place really close. Agree you should try to get a set when you arrive after your Train trip. What city will you be traveling to from Chamartin?

Thanks for the answer
I start in Burgos
Maybe I try to get something on the way

Depending on what time you arrive (if too early the stores aren’t open) you can take the Metro from the Madrid airport to the stop “Nuevos Ministerios” and then exit the subway as there is a Corte Ingles directly above the subway station and the sporting good store Decathalon right next door. I buy my walking poles and snacks/sandwiches for the my trip there and then go back downstairs on the subway when I’m done. Chamartin is 4 stops on the blue line from Nuevos Ministerios so you would likely have changed there anyways if you took the subway.

Thank you Derek , good hint, I didn't think on Corte de Ingles

Before you arrive at Santiago, most every El Corte Inglés has a good selection of hiking and camping gear.

Once you are in Santiago, not so much. Makes perfect sense from a marketing perspective.

The location above Nuevos Ministerios is HUGE. You should find what you need there.

Hope this helps.

Don't spend too much, you may have trouble shipping them at end of trip and woun't want to abandon an expensive set - I made that mistake - and spent way to much getting them home.

You can gets poles for under $10 each at the Decathalon, I splurge at Corte Ingles and they run $15-20 each. We’ll worth the extra for me. I’ve left used poles all over Spain for the next person.
