Two weeks in May

I've been thinking of doing Camino for a while but a "window" might have opened up...

I may get two weeks in early May free, and am asking for advice on route and where to start.

I'm reasonably fit & walk, but am not an uber-experienced long distance hiker: I want the challenged but do not want to push things t-o-o-o hard.

Would CdF be too crowded then? Where is a good place to start?
How easy would it be to get to Astorga? Or Leon would be easy travel and a more natural "starting city" - but is that too far?

Alternatively, if I were to do something less developed is Primitivo do-able in two weeks?
That time of year the weather should be lovely though and it would be nice to do a whole route instead of joining half-way along.
And I like the idea of something less crowded -- although hopefully not deserted?

3rd Edition. More content, training & pack guides avoid common mistakes, bed bugs etc
Last May 573 pilgrims walked the Primitivo. It is about 11 days from Oviedo to Melide, then another 3+ days to Santiago. It is one of the more physically demanding caminos with a couple of long days.

Buen camino.

How far would you want to walk in a day? Fourteen days from Oviedo is 14 walking days, no breaks and no wriggle room.
You might like to consider taking the bus Oviedo to Tineo and walk from there, thus not missing the best scenery and giving some space time-wise.
Another alternative would be to go to Lugo and take the bus to Fonsagrada and walk from there, although this gives you a long first day. Choice might depend on where you arrive to in Spain and whether you want some time in Santiago at the end.
You may also need to consider some private albergues/hostales, to choose your stages or if municipal ones have not yet opened. We were OK last May.
Check out some of the recent threads in the Primitivo section and blogs of those of us who have walked it.
Buen Camino

The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.
