Bom dia :)

Next week I will start the Camino portugues from Valença to Santiago. It's my 4 th time in the Camino but this time my family is coming with me, including 3 kids (10, 12 and 14) and my mum who is 64.

I need your help with 2 things:

. Can we get credenciales inValença? Or better buy them in Lisbon before we leave?
. I imagine some days we will not get places in albergues, since we are walking in July and we will be on the slow side as kids and mum have a slower pace - is there a list of alternative places, pensiones and such were we can stay on the way?

So grateful for the help!

In Valenca do Minho you can get a Credencial in the pilgrim albergue Sao Teotonio. See their address and more here.

After the albergue walking north towards Tui on the camino from Valenca do Minho, which was the old frontier, you pass through a spendid a 17thc fortress designed by Vauban and then cross the river Minho on the 19th c International bridge designed by the firm of Eiffel. The view to Tui as the lights come on at dusk is splendid! Within the fortress the camino passes through the garden of the pousada/hotel Sao Teotonio which is named after the same saint as the albergue. Stop at their outdoor bar to sip a coffee or more, relax and admire that panoramic view.

Bom caminho to you and your family!

As you walk through more and bigger towns, you shouldn't have a problem finding a place to sleep. However, places like Porriño only have a handful of hotels, hostels and/or pensiones, so, depending on your family's walking abilities I would consider booking ahead (booking.com or hotels.com).

Buen Camino
