Time of past OR future Camino

Hi everyone. I'm writing from Canada as a total newbie to Camino pilgrimages. But I think/feel (fear) haha the Camino is calling.... :)

I will be in Portugal at the end of August this year - and I thought I might try to walk Vigo to Santiago. I am hoping to try this as a first experience to see if I've got it in me to attempt the full Camino Frances next year.

My main question is about lodging in Porto. I am overwhelmed as to where to stay and rest for a day or two before I set out to Vigo. I would prefer a private room. Do you have a favourite place to stay in Porto that isn't terribly expensive, quiet but close to some nice restaurants?

Very light, comfortable and compressible poncho. Specially designed for protection against water for any activity.

Our Atmospheric H30 poncho offers lightness and waterproofness. Easily compressible and made with our Waterproof fabric, its heat-sealed interior seams guarantee its waterproofness. Includes carrying bag.

€60,-
Replying to follow answers in this thread. I am also staying in Porto for a night before I start walking. I've booked at the Albergue de Peregrinos do Porto but that's not a private room. Would be curious to see recommendations also.

Vigo can be tricky, the first time I came through there I found rooms were outrageously expensive , ended up taking ferry over to Cangas to spend the night...loved it...
on my two other starts from Vigo ended up just getting a hotel to start my caminos...I was bringing first time pilgrims ...I've stayed at both the Hotel Arsus , and Ogalia..both were clean and comfortable....small rooms..almost on the camino...and very close to the train station .I was able to pay 45 and 60 euros ...expensive for sure but I splurge on my first and last nights....you've made a great choice for a camino, I highly recommend the variante espiritual if you have the extra day. Buen Camino

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.

Thank you for that tip about Cangas.
