Camino Ingles(planned)
I don't get much free vacation time due to work, family and other commitments, but my place of work is always closed between Christmas and New year so I have this time free every year. I'm from England so walking in colder/wetter weather is no problem. 😂

Is anything open between December 26th and the 31st on the Camino Ingles from A Coruna or will lots of places be closed for this period? Would I be able to find any kind of accommodation? (even if it is private hotels or Airbnbs etc) Are there likely to be shops open to buy food? Bars and restaurants?

Thanks

Binky

Too many and too often!
Xunta albergues should be open. Bars and restaurants may open for limited hours over the holiday season. On the Ingles bars and restaurants mostly exist to serve locals rather than pilgrims so there are not as many seasonal closures as you find on the Frances and Portugues.

Welcome to the Forum @B1nky !

Hotels and Airbnbs will usually be priced higher between Christmas and New Year than in, say, November, but you’ll be able to find some options. Grocery stores and restaurants will definitely be open, as plenty of locals will be around in the villages you’ll walk through. You’ll probably see lights strung up overhead in the towns, too, which will be festive!

Buen Camino!

I've actually done this walk around this time. I was on the Mar after Christmas, then transitioned onto the Ingles the day before New Year's Eve. I vividly remember walking out of Betanzos on New Year's Day, passing the party-goers who were just wrapping up their night as I was starting my day. (A little later, a taxi pulled over suddenly in front of me, so that one of those revelers could empty her guts.)

I had no trouble with beds or food. Daylight was a surprise! I don't think it lit up much before 9am. Don't plan on an early start.

True! In the winter the sun rises in the 9 o’ clock hour and it doesn’t really start warming up until 10am or so.
