Walking stick in Porto?

Time of past OR future Camino
CF Spring 2022
CP Spring 2024
Greetings from Porto! It is absolutely gorgeous here today and I am sorely tempted to linger a few days to enjoy it all … but the Way awaits and I plan to start walking from Matosinhos on Sunday.

I’d very much like to buy and use a single wooden walking stick for my walk, just as I did for the CF two years ago. I know the Decathlon here is a source for walking poles, but does anyone know where I can get the same kind of wooden sticks that are sold in the shop across from the pilgrim office in SJPP, which is where I bought mine? (Since I couldn’t take it on the plane with me I ended up buying a hack saw in a China shop in Santiago and cut off the top to take home in the same tube that held my Compostela - after that certificate and my credential, it’s my most cherished Camino memento.)

I seem to remember someone asking about this here before, but I was unable to find any information via a forum search, and Google Maps only seems to turn up general camping shops (and, of course, Decathlon.) Any advice is appreciated!

Porto isn’t much of a Camino/pilgrim city so there’s aren’t really any pilgrim type shops. There might be some locals on this forum but if not you could try Reddit in the Porto sub, there are lots of locals happy to help.

You can probably get one at the albergue for free, just ask, they are very helpful…

The one from Galicia (the round) and the one from Castilla & Leon. Individually numbered and made by the same people that make the ones you see on your walk.
