Walking to Pedrafita do Cebreiro from O Cebreiro

Time of past OR future Camino
2021
Since I can't get a booking in O Cebreiro I am staying in Pedrafita do Cebreiro which is only 3 miles away. Has anyone walked to there from O Cebreiro? When I look on Google Earth, I see lots of back roads and trails.

Ideal pocket guides for during and after your Camino. Each weighs just 40g (1.4 oz).

It is easy; follow the road LU 633. It will less than 1 hour for 4 kms.

...and ship it to Santiago for storage. You pick it up once in Santiago. Service offered by Casa Ivar (we use DHL for transportation).

I met someone who had been in Perafita and wanted to walk to O'Cebreiro. He told me he was warned not to walk and to take a taxi. That was about 10 years ago so I do not know if things have changed. Locals usually know best.

We stayed there in October last year when we did our camino. We walked on the shoulder of the highway about half way down, and then there is a trail that short cuts off the 'roundest' part of the road. It was a better shoulder for walking than many other roads that the CF puts you on. The forest trail was very quiet. The way back in the morning felt quite steep to start the day, but it has a beautiful view, so well worth the walk. We would do it again without concerns.

There’ll likely be plenty of (un-bookable) beds in the Albergue that’d save you a steep downhill on tired legs and an equally steep hike back to the start of one of the Camino Frances’ bumpier days.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
I had the same issue. I was going to book Pedrafita do Cebreiro next month but decided to stop earlier at Las Herrerias and enjoy the walk UP to O Cebreiro in the morning when I am fresh. When I stayed at O Cebreiro in 2019 there was a thick cloud/mist in the morning so I am hoping that it will have cleared by the time I get there. In 2019 I managed to stay at Venta Celta O Cebreiro but I can't seem to find contact email details. Just found their phone number, you could try it +0034 667 55 30 06

Anyone know if Albergue de San Roque, in Villambistia is open? Wise Pilgrim stars it may be closed.
