The focus is on reducing the risk of failure through being well prepared. 2nd ed.

This is a fine French account/diary available on line of a young man, Dominique Paladilhe, who walked not in the 60s but just after WW2 in 1948; he later became a distinguished historian.

I was able to grab the text as a PDF file and then import it into Word. From there I used the Translator function to translate the French to English. I am looking forward to reading it.

BTW, the book is freely downloadable as either an eBook or a PDF. To preserve copyright, what I translated is for my individual consumption :)

Down bag (90/10 duvet) of 700 fills with 180 g (6.34 ounces) of filling. Mummy-shaped structure, ideal when you are looking for lightness with great heating performance.

Thank you for sharing this - easy to download and have begun to read it. It turns my thoughts to the Way in gratitude and humility - to walk where so many pilgrims have walked before us. It still amazes to consider such an opportunity is still available to each of us.

Easy to download, but now I have to figure out how to translate. I love reading about pilgrimages from "back in the day."

Thanks for the link! It's been a while since I've read anything in French but I've imported the book into LingQ (a powerful e-reader tool that I use for language learning) and look forward to reading it when I'm in France in a couple of weeks.

Get a spanish phone number with Airalo. eSim, so no physical SIM card. Easy to use app to add more funds if needed.
Walter Starkie wrote a book about his pilgrimages before and after the war. Although it didnt receive rave reviews at the time it is now considered a classic. I first bought it in paper back from the CSJ of UK in 2001. Whilst volunteering at our local SPCA bookshop a few years ago I came across a first edition with dust jacket hard cover copy.

Thank you so much, I'll just try to practice my French with it....

The first edition came out in 2003 and has become the go-to-guide for many pilgrims over the years. It is shipping with a Pilgrim Passport (Credential) from the cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.

Is there a list of albergues that also have private rooms on the Camino Frances? Gracias.
Hi everyone -- After walking the Frances from SJpdP last October, I'm planning to revisit the bit between Logrono and Burgos this July, following different stages. It's the section where I had...
I started out from Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port on 1 May. It turned out to be an unforgetable day. Above 1,000 m or so it snowed, catching many people unprepared. Later that day "many" walkers were...
And another attempt looms, to buy a decent Poncho after trying and failing in the previous two likely towns. Anyone know where an Altos or similar might be bought in Leon, please? 😁
