Walking with a few minor challenges

Time of past OR future Camino
September (2013)
I've been following this forum all year as part of my preparation for the Camino, starting 1st September. Some of the stories I've read of peoples experiences and challenges that have encountered and overcome are inspirational. By way of encouragement, I'm sharing some of my story as to why I'm focussed on the walk and looking forward to it so much. A chance encounter got this story in our newspaper

I look forward to meeting some of you in September

Hi OliveGeorge,
great story indeed. I got goose bumps reading it. It's certainly a calling for some of us regardless of the challenges to get there. Have a great Camino in September, I will be thinking of you both, I'm on my way next April/May 2014.

You probably will have had physical therapy and have done some training, so you will be aware of your physical limits. Get advice from your doctor. I set out on a Camino after some lesser tearing around my Achilles tendon. I used MBT rocker sole boots to virtually eliminate lateral stresses, so you might see if your doctor recommends them as mine did. I went from an immobilization boot to the airplane. I iced the area at least twice a day, and did not press on through pain. I did fine on shorter stages (I am not particularly ambitious or competitive anyway), let Camino friends move on ahead, and did not further aggravate the injury. Take several ziplok bags and ask for hielo in bars. I even used the MBT boots on a subsequent Camino I liked them so much. The interior fabric finally became too frayed to use them.

Take it easy and you will have a great time!
